Munising music & moonrise

About three weeks ago, our oh-so-busy summer plans had us driving from Bayfield, Wis- consin to Munising (MEW-niss-sing), Michigan, en route to a huge family reunion near Cadillac that would start the next day. After we’d checked in at our motel, we had a quite acceptable local meal, accompanied by live local musicians (which the Elf loved).

The light wasn’t very good, but afterward we drove a little farther to see to sun set over the bay. As it was setting, the moon was rising, and I was able to get this image through the branches of a large pine growing in the dunes. I wished I’d had my tripod!

What a lovely shot of the Elf (in the middle of this post).
That’s the kind of fun shot that family can look back on, far into the future.

As soon as we entered the room, she moved toward the music as if drawn by a magnet and started to dance as soon as she got close to them, to everyone’s delight. Thanks, Vicki!

  2. Looks like fun and the Elf is a cutie :).

It was indeed grand fun, and they’d been meeting to play for years. The joy of their playing was infectious, and I’d have loved to have had my guitar handy to join in. And, yeah, The Elf’s pretty cute, and you should see her dance!

Beautiful pictures, Gary, both of the Elf – = your grand daughter??? – and the moon – I love the way you’ve framed it with the tree, and the absence of a tripod isn’t apparent. Good stuff! Adrian

What a special way to begin a grand family time! Thanks for sharing this delightful time with The Elf.
