Play Day!

Just in case you hadn’t heard, today is international Play Music on the Porch Day. And we did just that, for a while, and then we all moved out closer to the street to continue. To introduce the family band, here we are, from left to right: The Sprout, Batty, The Sprite, The Elf, Squiddy, and yours truly. We had an absolutely perfect day for it. (Photo by CD.) Did anyone else out there participate?

  1. Sorry, I’ve heard of Mayday and payday but never Play Music on the Porch Day.
The inclusion of your car reminded me that because license plates are issued nationally in NZ, all that needs to appear is the plate number itself, without any other kind of designation.

I had no idea such a day existed. I have a feeling that one of my favorites, the E-Flat Porch Band out of McKinney, Texas, probably did know about it, and probably played a tune or two. They’re named after the porch in McKinney, Texas where they first practiced – it resonates to the key of E-Flat. There are some samples of their music on their site.

Now, all we need is the music to go with this wonderful band photo.

I love the photo–thanks too for annotating it so that now I can attach faces to the names and nicknames that you so often use in your postings, Gary. When is your new band going to release an album? :)

I have to echo Mike’s words above – it really is fun to see people attached to those names, and to see them having such a good time. I hadn’t heard of the occasion either but it sure is a great idea.

Thanks, Lynn, we are so fortunate to be able to live so close to each other in a family group, and to get along so well with each other–we give thanks for this every day!

  6. Nice to see the family taking part and have an idea of who is whom…or is it whom is who…or whom is whom…or who is who? No matter, it’s fun to see the kiddos taking part and I hope a few passersby were encouraging from their cars. Bentley howled at the UPS truck…does that count?
