I started out to develop a new Silly Saturday post and, while I was looking through my archives of photos of our animal companions through the years, I came across this portrait that I made almost exactly 18 years ago of our beloved Fern and have to share it here. She was a little over two years old at the time, and she lived until the late summer of 2010. I’ve always thought that she had a decidedly skeptical look on her face in this photo, so I’ve decided to add that to my title. She was one of the finest dogs we’ve ever known.

I think I’d title the post “Sympathetic Saturday.” She has a wonderfully empathetic/sympathetic expression; I suspect she was a joy to have around.
You’re so right. Totally loyal, great sense of humor, perfectly at ease with kids of any age, and no need for a lead–not even in the woods with chipmunks & squirrels around!
She’s a sweetie and I agree with Linda’s suggested title. Full of love and compassion.
And I agree that it’s a good suggestion. I considered changing it, but then folks would be wondering what you and LInda were talking about.
What a sweet face. Loveable for all the right reasons.
Yup, a big, furry hunk of loveableness!
Skeptical or not, she looks like she would have made an excellent companion.
She went everywhere with us (except when we traveled overseas) and loved doing so!
Skeptical, and so sweet. :-)
She wasn’t often skeptical, but she was always sweet!
