Webnesday (51): Helpis closer

I’ve been keeping a close watch on the little Bronze Aussie Jumper (Helpis minitabunda) that I presented here two weeks ago, and she finally let me see her face. I was careful not to get so close that I’d startle her into a retreat back into her web tent, so the resolution isn’t as good as I would have liked, but this was my first chance to get a really good look at her anterior countenance. I’ll keep trying!

She’s a cutie! Those eyes remind me of the peacock spiders.

Wonderful picture – very confiding. :)

  3. I don’t know if I can countenance your use of so fancy a word as countenance to describe a spider.

  4. I am a big fan of hairy palps so this one tugs at my heart strings.
