Flashback Friday: Oh, what fun…

…it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh! Many of us sing this joyfully at this time of year, but how many of our younger generations have actually ever seen one–or are able to picture one clearly in their mind’s eye? CD found this old photograph in a box of archived memoirs from her family, and I’ve had fun restoring it as much as possible. The two folks in the sleigh are her grandmother and husband. The location was almost certainly Minnesota and the time pre-World War 1. And, yes, those are jingle bells!

Gary, I felt so sure you were going to say Austria. It reminded me so much of a sleigh ride I had in Austria in January 1978.

Isn’t it wonderful to have these photographic treasures of CD’s ancestors. They remind us of a simpler life in a world we might well wish to return to (in light of the current civil unrest & violence around the world today).

Hope you, CD and all your family had a wonderful Christmas and look forward to a Happy, Healthy and enjoyable Holiday season in the New Year :)

Thanks, Vicki, I wish you best possible health and happiness in the new year as well. And oh, yes, I do love seeing what I can do with old photos. It can be so rewarding, revitalizing ghosts from the past!

    Hullo Gary
Glad to get your New Year email. Thought we had lost touch! I didn’t know you wrote a blog. I do too but started it more recently than you. You might like to have a look at mine. Happy fishing.
    John

John, I just found your message, and it’s so good to hear from you after so much water under the bridges! I am noting your website and am looking forward to catching up on you in the very near future. My best to Marion, and it’s great to be back in touch!
