Recently I’ve brought you two versions of blossoms on our oakleaf hydrangea. For today, here is its neighbor in our garden. It’s also a hydrangea, but a different species.
I’ve done some adjustments with Camera Raw and followed up with some tone mapping with Nik’s HDR Efex Pro 2 software to enhance texture and detail.

Very nice editing. I love the textures in the petals.
I spent more time on the texture than on any other aspect. Thanks for that!
Interesting that you thought to use HDR Efex Pro 2 for this image. Clever and makes sense as all the tools we have can be multipurposed if we use our imagination a little bit.
Since I’ve grown comfortable with tone-mapping a single image, rather than combining data from multiples into a classical HDR rendering, I’m liking the fine adjustments more and more. I’m planning on continuing this category for rather more extreme examples, but it can be very useful for subtle enhancement as well. The Nik programs are really amazing. And, after all, it’s all about using our imaginations to the best of our abilities and challenging ourselves to use the tools available to us in new and intuitive ways.
Very nice indeed. I love the texture and composition.
I had lots of fun with this. Thanks, Vicki.
Love that texture. Nik’s HDR is the best there is.
I heartily agree, and I thank your for your visit and your compliment.
