More of our white iris blossoms appeared last week and, after a light rain lasting several hours, I went out for a closer look at one of them. The still-overcast sky and the lack of any breeze combined to provide ideal portrait conditions.

Gary, that is absolutely gorgeous :).
That’s exactly what I thought. I couldn’t wait to see what I could do with it!
Well you did a wonderful job as usual :).
Beautiful macro. Wonderful composition and clarity. Delicious color!
I don’t think anyone has ever commented with “delicious color” before! I think this may well be a prime example of something I read about in a science-fiction novel when I was a boy, which the author described as “intrasensory substitution.” Having come to appreciate your love of chromatic subtlety, I consider this a high compliment!
Stunning
Happily not–if you were an insect, you could crawl right in and right back out again without the slightest qualm about being stunned in the process. Heh, heh.
Nicely composed and exposed, Gary. Wet and overcast was perfect for this beauty.
There’s almost nothing I like better than wet and overcast. Ah, when that sky turns into the great softbox and the wind backs off–what more could one ask?
Very beautiful, Gary – good stuff! A
Ta very much, A!
Wow-wonderful!! Excellent shot, Gary.
Thanks so much, Hanne and Klausbernd–I’m so happy that you like it!
Great shot! Love a bit of macro… I couldn’t like your posts?I wanted to and can’t see the button!? Good job, i like your style I am following you now… :)
Hi, Anita, and welcome! Yours is the first complaint that I’ve had about not being able to “like” one of my posts–others seem to be having no problem. Maybe next time you visit the button will magically reappear.
Will give it another crack! X
It’s good that you managed to keep so many of those low-key details in focus.
Big thanks go to a good tripod!
And perhaps the lack of a breeze.
