Fleeting beauty: Hey, watch your step, big guy!

I’m tired of cold, dry, dismal weather.  If only we’d have a real snowfall, I’d feel a lot better.  The summery feel to my post of yesterday helped a lot to cheer me up, so I’ll offer another flashback to warmer times.  This is one that I made in late August 2012.  I was trying to get good, sharp shots of the big bees buzzing about, but they were busy as…well, you know, and the little ants were nearly as active.  Still, it was worth a try, so I set the programming to burst mode, shooting 5 shots a second, and one of the dozen or so in this sequence paid off.  The bee in the background is more likely a carpenter bee than a bumblebee, though I’m never quite positive, and the golden yellow pods belong to our trumpet vine.  Sorry, I don’t know enough entomology to identify the ant.  May this bring  some more warmth, too (not you folks down in Australia, though–you have enough)!

Great perspective on this one! I can even see the little hairs on the bee’s legs! It’s nicely set off by the flower bud color too.

(Please do not send any heat ‘down under’ – we have enough to share around the whole wide world, thank you).
