When you’re out and about with your camera, open for inspiration for something to really catch your eye, do you ever get the feeling that you’re not alone? That you are also being observed? Watched? Studied? Evaluated? This has happened to me a few times, and I ran across this image a few days ago, that I made back in 2003. I wish I could remember what kind of tree it was whose bark had formed this visage, but I can’t, and I didn’t write it down at the time. Anyway, be that as it may, here’s looking at you!

Wow, it totally looks like an owl face!! I love it :).
That’s exactly what I thought at the time. It sure is fun to dredge up these old fun ones from years past and, in the process, re-live the hike on which we wound up gazing at each other!
Nature’s sense of humor…..a smiley on a tree! Love it!
I think we have Momma N to thank for our sense of humor. Without one, what a sad world this would be! Thanks a lot, Robyn!
Trust you to spot these details, Gary.
I thought I was the only person who saw creatures and faces in bark formations.
Well, I’m more than happy to burst your pronoid bubble, Vicki! I’m sure there are many more of us out there too. I wonder if there is a collective name for perceptive folks like us…
As they say…You are never alone in the woods.
And I’m happy to be able to agree with that.
Owl’s watching you.

Owl just rubbed her eyes after sleep.
Thanks for taking the time to let me know you liked it!
I love it! This makes me smile.
It had me laughing out loud and stopped me in my tracks!
:-) Great fun! Lovely capture.
I just love to come across surprises like this and see who’s been lurking and waiting for me!
Here’s lookin’ at you kid! ;-) Great find Gary.
Sometimes I think that it’s the spirits in the natural world who are finding me!
