Here they come!

Our temperature reached 53°F (11.7°C) today, and it’s supposed to be in the 50s all weekend with rain (blessed rain!) predicted for Saturday and Sunday.  There is that hint of seasonal promise in the air and on a hunch, with my mental fingers crossed, I went out to have a look at the spot in the front flower bed where the first crocuses appear.  And my optimism was rewarded!  Although there are no blossoms yet, the first leaf shoots are pushing their way up through the blanket of last autumn’s leaves.

Crocus 883Ebullient with the promise of more new growth in the immediate future, with the rain’s help, I felt a warm wave of playfulness come over me, and I dipped into the filter gallery and had some fun, finally settling on the fresco.  Happy awakenings, and be playful!

How wonderful! I saw some tiny yellow flowers poking up through the mulch in someone’s sidewalk garden today during my lunchtime walk…was so nice to see them again. :)

  2. Gary, thank you so much for sharing that sign of Spring with us!! I really needed that :).

So did I, Cindy. I just had another look, and there’s no noticeable change yet. We’re still supposed to get some rain this weekend and that should help. Can’t wait until they start blooming!

Yay! A wonderful sight and a wonderful feeling to see those first signs of Spring!

Tja, diese scheinbar ewige Schwankung–erinnere mich noch ganz genau! Geduld, Geduld…

Oh I love crocuses, and snowdrops too, Gary – both for their beauty and their heralding of spring. We are back into a cold snap here, but not for long I think. Hope you’re fine! Adrian

I don’t think we have snowdrops here, unfortunately. Speaking of cold snaps, our temperature has dropped below freezing and we have nearly two inches of snow, and it’s still falling; we may have five by tomorrow morning. I hope this doesn’t stunt the new crocuses and daffodils!
