Flashback Friday: Slovenian vineyards

On this last day of November, a flashback farewell to autumn memories seems appropriate.  One of these that comes to mind immediately is from a little over three years ago.  While I was on assignment in Italy, I found myself in Trier (aka Trieste) for a weekend.  A newfound friend invited me to make a day trip into Slovenia for a look
around and a nice meal.  Our chosen route took us close to several vineyards, and the colors of the grape leaves were nothing short of astounding.  On two occasions, I ventured in among the vines for a much closer look, and these are the result.  The first was near the town of Tomaj and the second near Prepotto.  I can still feel the sun—and taste the grapes!

The combination of the brightly-colored leaves and the duller shades of the grapes makes for some really beautiful images, Gary.

Really lovely colors and texture, especially in that second photo.

Gorgeous colors, Gary…the richness of earth and life…wow….

  5. I guess we did have some good images of Autumn to share in the end. I am always amazed at what a bountiful crop seems to come from such withered stems.

Great images. I too like the contrast of the brightly coloured leaves and dull colour of the grapes. Nice angle too – makes me feel as though I’m amongst the rows of vines.

  7. Meanderer says:

Oh, gosh! The colours and detail in these images are wonderful! I can almost reach out and touch the grapes. Lovely warming images.

  8. Adrian Lewis says:

    Luxuriant abundance – wonderful! A

That’s exactly what I felt at the time. And I wish you could have tasted them!

  10. MikeP says:

I love vineyards and you caught the leaves at just the right time.

I always have, too. The vineyard in Prepotto was part of an estate that also had its own winery. We had a tasting, and the wine was fabulous! (How could it not be–just look at those grapes!)
