During a family reunion last summer near Minong (MY-nong), Wisconsin, I volunteered to lead those few who chose to arise before breakfast on early hikes through the woods. On the second day, exploring a new trail, a ray of sun broke through the clouds and provided a drop of golden light in the lovely, dark woods. It lasted only a moment.

With that shaft of light shining through, it looks like a little fairy’s glen where they gather to dance. Ok, so my imagination is in overdrive today. :) LOL

It was hard to leave, so I didn’t–not while that golden light lasted. Happily, it wasn’t cold at all just standing there.

I felt the glow during the rest of the day and returned again the following morning to have another look, but it was a clear sky. Everything was bright and sunny and the whole mood was completely different. Not unpleasant at all, but the special enchantment was just not there. It really is all about light, isn’t it?

That’s very nice, Gary! The general underexposure of the shot gives a very real feeling of being in a dense, shady woodland >>> and then that wonderful ray of sunlight hits the grass and sets the whole thing off! Excellent! Adrian
It really was a moment frozen in time, although it was very brief. The whole character of the scene changed within minutes. I was delighted to have been ready for it.

Thanks, Alicia, great to see you back again. If I’d had the time, I would have loved to return with my guitar and see if I could start a new song. I did return the following morning, but the light had all changed. It may yet appear in a future composition…
