Snow nice with ice

Hawthorn

Cornus and sycamore leaf

The first real snowfall arrived yesterday, very quietly.  It started with a very slight, light rain around noon, changing to thick snow as the afternoon faded toward evening.  The snow continued until nearly midnight and thanks to a complete lack of wind, all of it has stayed magically where it fell.  Today it’s as if the whole world is holding its breath.

Your ‘Ice Cones and ‘Ice cones with Sycamore’ are fabulous comps. Nice control of DOF and detail in these photos is great. My wish for snow will come soon enough.

Thanks for stopping by. Love the Hawthorn – looks like an abstract painting ! The ice cones are ‘beautiful’ compositions.

Nice of you to stop by my site, too. I never get tired of seeing how things we see every day and take for granted can get a complete abstract makeover when the weather gods step in and take the reins!

  3. Wonderful images of your snowy day, Gary. The first and the last photos are my favourites – the patterns and colour tones are beautiful. Your photography is very impressive, I look forward to exploring more of your work!

  4. I like these images. Just something about snow that changes everything. Love the abstract nature of the Hawthorn image, and then the icicles on the pine cones. Great catches! :)
